What we collect
On the website, when you check pronunciation we capture voice through the browser microphone. In the app — through the phone microphone. The recording is sent to our servers for analysis. On the site you get an anonymous session id (web-xxx); in the app — a stable anonymous UUID on the device. Email and name are not required to practise.
Waitlist and news emails
If you leave an email in a site form (mobile early access / news), we store the address, UI language, page path, and form source. This is an optional subscription: we may email you about the app launch, TestFlight, site updates, and related Jak Polak offers. Subscribing is not required to use the site or app.
Marketing email in the app
The app does not collect email by default. If you later explicitly opt in to tips or news by email, we store the address and the consent record. Without that consent we do not send marketing email to app users.
Mobile app
The UUID is stored on the device and matches the RevenueCat App User ID so we can restore your subscription. The app asks for the microphone only to score pronunciation. Local practice reminders do not send data to the server. PRO is purchased via the App Store / Google Play; the store and RevenueCat handle payment — we never see your card or billing profile.
Consent to store audio
Before the first recording we ask whether we may keep your audio to improve the product. Declining does not block the product — the take simply is not stored in our internal archives.
Who receives data
Audio is processed on our servers (Railway, Supabase). For pronunciation analysis the recording is sent to Azure Speech. Feedback and the teacher voice are cached with us; third-party AI APIs receive only the recording itself, not your name or email. Payments — Apple, Google, and RevenueCat. Waitlist/news emails are sent via Resend.
Deleting data and unsubscribing
In the app (Menu → Delete account) you can erase your profile, progress, and recordings from the server. Withdrawing audio-storage consent deletes stored files but keeps scores. On the website, clearing browser data is enough — the web-xxx session is no longer linked to new attempts. Unsubscribe from waitlist/news via the Unsubscribe link in the email or by writing to hello@jakpolak.app.
